Life happens best in community. Each week groups of people in our church gather to share life through discussion, study, prayer, encouragement, support, service, and fellowship. No one should do life alone but we can’t walk closely through life with everyone. Our Life Groups provide an opportunity for followers of Christ to help each other grow spiritually in a unique way, through deep authentic relationship and partnership among a group of individuals mutually invested in each other.
Life Groups usually meet in homes, outdoors or at the church facility on a given day each the week to build and encourage faith in Jesus, pray and share fun, fellowship and food. They are a great way for new people to plug into the life of Grays Woods Church and explore what it means to follow Jesus.

The New Testament stresses the importance of personal relationships among believers. We are challenged to bear one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2), encourage one another (Hebrews 10:24), be concerned for one another's interests (Philippians 2:4), and even admonish one another (1 Thessalonians 5:44). Relationships mean more, much more, than superficial acquaintances. Too often, we find ourselves among 'strangers' within a church family such as ours. Yet, to achieve the level of relationships described in scripture, a Life Group is almost essential.
Life Groups by design allow us to enter into an agreement to be committed to one another. These groups offer an opportunity to know a few people more deeply, which leads to mutual trust and a bond that allows us to share our lives and eventually with the whole church body. The result is we can indeed bear each other's burdens and encourage each other when necessary because we are no longer strangers but family.
At the core of our Life Groups is spiritual accountability. Accountability is more than being answerable to someone; instead, it is a mutual edification (encouragement) in which one takes responsibility for another's spiritual growth within the group. Not only do we rely on one another, but we also are liable for each other. A Life Group's one-two-hour format usually consists of a personal sharing time, reflection on scripture, affirmation of spiritual growth/struggles, and prayer.
For us to develop spiritually, we must focus on matters of the heart. If we do not, spiritual growth will languish, and accountability will suffer within the body of Christ. The goal among Life Groups is to bear fruit, grow in the knowledge of God, and be strengthened with His power. (Colossians 1:9-10). Through this open, honest, sharing, and growth process, each member's mutual edification gives resilience to live for Christ in this Satan-controlled world.
In closing, let us encourage you to seek out a Life Group that fits your schedule.
