History of Grays Woods Church

In January 2019, Grace Hills Church and State College Christian Church merged to form Grays Woods Church. We were two like-minded churches, in similar situations, with a compatibility of beliefs. The compatibility was remarkable. The journey had begun in June of 2018 with a conversation between two pastors about what God could be leading our churches to do. We recognized what appeared to be a wide-open door for obeying Jesus’ prayer for unity among his believers in John 17 in a very practical and meaningful way. After many discussions and prayers, we brought our church elders into the discussion, followed by ministry leaders, and eventually the entirety of both congregations. Throughout this exploration of a potential merge the overall consensus was, “if it’s God’s will, we want it.” It soon became clear that God was leading us in that direction and the predominant question became not “should we merge?” but “why shouldn’t we merge?” Having gained confidence in God’s apparent will for our churches to become one, the decision to merge was made on October 17, 2018.
